Now aged 15 he's spend a few years at Unity learning how to be a healer. Upon his return, timed so that he'd be present for when is sister undertook her joining ceremony, so she could join the order, he came across a badly wounded elf. As he tried to tend to the elf, and watched him die, he was attacked and lost consciousness.
Rhys came to, finding himself in Caldan. For the first time since he could remember he found himself in pain. This being rather unpleasant he decided to stay lying on the horse he found himself tied to. Some time later he was bundled onto a litter and taken to his room to recover. As he was leaving the courtyard a stranger came over and performed some healing on him.
When he later came to he found himself recovering fast. Whatever had been done to him was still lingering in his body, however as always it was taking care of it by itself.
His parents arrived in his room, along with the stranger who had healed him, another he remembered as having tended him on the ride to Caldan and one more stranger. Discussions took place and it became apparent that the attack on him may not have been as random as he had thought. Rhys discovered that the one that had found him was called Chingun, a barbarian from the North. The one that had healed him was a Paladin of the Lady of Justice, called Korbin. The last stranger was called Tanalee. It was her friend, a mage, that had been taken.
Korbin and Chingun decided to help Tanalee to find her friend. Rhys asked if they could delay until the morning so that he could join them. They decided to humour him, as they could all do with a night of rest anyway. Interesting discussions with his mother followed before she relented.
Rhys joined the others that evening for dinner. He quickly discovered that Korbin had a very narrow set of beliefs. Simple discussions about having met the various gods resulted in his leaving the room, apparently offended. Rhys decided to avoid the subject in future.
The next morning the party set off, passing through Manaholm along the way. They camped some distance south of Manaholm. Rhys suggested he took the darkest watch, he didn't mention that he could see in the dark however. It was during this watch that the party was set upon by 8 Gnolls.
Rapidly things went against the party, with the exception of Rhys who remained untouched. To protect his companions he was forced to attack these creatures, though he did apologies to those he struck. Fortunately Shard, one of his sister's friends, arrived and rapidly removed the remaining Gnolls. The threat out of the way Rhys healed Tanalee and Korbin by taking their wounds for his own, and then collapsed. In the morning he finished healing Korbin and healed Chingun, collapsing again. This upset Korbin who insisted on healing Rhys, which Rhys suggested wasn't the best use of his abilities.
Korbin was very apparently upset at her presence until he managed to title her as a construct of the gods. The next morning the 4 set off, following the trail that Chingun was able to find. Late that day they came across a humanoid who was apparently afraid of them. Korbin and Chingun stopped her and started questioning her. Rhys used his ability to skim surface thoughts to find out that she wasn't afraid of them in particular and that she'd left a parcel of herbs in a bush. He recovered the herbs and managed to find out where the green things had gone. These were apparently the creatures Chingun had been tracking.
Finally identifying the creature before them as female and probably human Rhys asked her if they could do anything for her, was there anything she wanted. Her thoughts flitted around for a moment before thinking that she couldn't ask for blood. Realising that his friends might not view such a trade well, he suggested they move off a short distance and that he catch up with them. Once they had moved away he offered her blood.
This drew a shocked response and she asked how he knew. Rhys admitted that he'd been skimming her surface thoughts, at which point she locked her mind up tight. Rhys did however see her aura and discovered that she was a priestess of the Mother. After a moment he realised that the Mother was the Mother of the gods, one that his father had mentioned. He still offered his blood, which she drew with a special knife.
Rejoining the party they moved on for the rest of the day, heading in the direction the green things had been heading. Reaching a ruined settlement near dusk they decided to camp there for the night.
During the night Chingun noticed a light nearby and Tanalee went to investigate. When she returned she informed the others that there were 3 Goblins in a nearby ruin. The party set out to deal with them, and did in short order. They discovered a hatch leading underground and were able to discover that there were others down there.
Leaving the investigation until the morning the party returned to sleep.
In the morning they opened the hatch and discovered stairs leading down. Below was a large chamber with a single door leading off.
Going through that door they found a short passage with rooms off it. Searching those rooms Chingun found a single Golbin, and killed it. Through another door they found another passage, with a hole in one wall and another room coming off it. In that room were 3 Goblins, playing cards.
Charging in Tanalee and Korbin killed the Goblins in short order, finding a large supply of money in the process. They then set off through the hole and down a narrow natural passageway.
At the end of this they found a tripwire, which Tanalee set off while trying to disable. Realising time might be of the essence Rhys used his abilities to boost his speed down the nearby spiral stairs, moving at nearly 7 times his normal speed. Upon reaching the bottom he triggered a falling block, but was moving too fast for it to hit him.
Moving carefully the party explored some nearby alcoves, finding skeletons in each. Upon inspection Rhys felt that they had been harvested for parts. Moving on, after Korbin killed a single Goblin, they found Tanalee's friend, albeit badly injured. Rhys healed him enough to stop him dying and stayed there while the rest moved on.
A minute or so later Korbin came running back past Rhys, heading away. With no sign of the others Rhys set back the way Korbin had come from, and followed the sounds of combat.
The fight was almost over by the time he arrived, with Chingun landing a killing blow just as Rhys reached the point of combat. In an attempt to stabilise the dying leader Rhys moved in, but only managed to hasten his demise instead. Utterly shocked at what he'd just done, Rhys retreated inside himself...
